General Information

DIVISIONS:

INSTRUCTIONAL - AGES 5 and 6 (Typically Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten)

  • Schedule- Typically teams play and/or practice twice a week. Games are on Saturday afternoons or Monday evenings. Practices could be on any weekday, depending on coaches' availability. The season runs April-early June.  June 4-6 will be the last weekend.
  • Coach pitch (5 max pitches-Tee used if unable to hit pitched balls)
  • Players placed on teams by school and/or with friends to the best of our ability (Player or Coach request available at sign up)
  • Players cannot turn 7 prior to August 1 of the new playing season year.
  • Bat Rule:  Bats must either be marked with the “USA” Bat stamp if 2 5/8” in barrel diameter, or limited to 2 1/4'” barrel diameters for 1.15 BPF/USSSA stamped bats. No 2 3/4" bats allowed.
  • Some Players may choose to "play up" in the older youth division for competitive reasons.  This is allowed by TVBL, but our board of directors reserves the right to move the player back into the Instructional league if we feel it is in the player's best interest.

 

YOUTH LEAGUE - AGES 7 and 8 (Typically 1st and 2nd graders)

  • Schedule- Typically Teams play and/or practice 2-3 times per week.  Sunday's are only used in extreme situations.  The season runs April-early June.  The last weekend that will be used for TVBL games is June 3-5.  Our goal is to conclude the season (playoffs and all start games) by June 15, however playoff games may occur during the week through mid to late June depending on the weather.
  • Machine pitch. 46 foot mound, 60 foot bases
  • Players are placed on teams by random draw, with even age distributions. Team requests are NOT available.
  • Players cannot turn 9 prior to August 1 of the new playing season year.
  • Bat Rule:  Bats must either be marked with the “USA” Bat stamp if 2 3/8” or larger in barrel diameter, or limited to 2 1/4'” barrel diameters for 1.15 BPF/USSSA stamped bats.
  • Some Players may choose to "play up" in the older division for competitive reasons.  This is allowed by TVBL, but our board of directors reserves the right to move the player back into the Instructional league if we feel it is in the player's best interest.

 

ROOKIE LEAGUE - AGE 9-10 (Typically 3rd and 4th Graders)

MAJOR LEAGUE - AGE 12 (Typically 6th graders)

  • Players are drafted by coaches, per evaluation and draft process.
  • Players cannot turn 13 prior to August 1 of the new playing season year.
  • Bat Rule: Any bat USA or USSSA stamped bat may be used.
  • Some Players may choose to "play up" in the older division for competitive reasons.  This is allowed by TVBL, but our board of directors reserves the right to move the player back into the Instructional league if we feel it is in the player's best interest.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE - AGES 13-15 (Typically 7th, 8th, and 9th Graders)

  • Schedule- Typically Teams play and/or practice 2-3 times per week.  Sundays are only used in extreme situations.  The season runs April-early June.  The last two weekends of May will not be used. The last weekend that will be used for TVBL games is June 3-5.  Our goal is to conclude the season (playoffs and all start games) by June 15, however playoff games may occur during the week through mid to late June depending on the weather.
  • Kid pitch. 57 foot mounds/80 foot bases
  • Players are drafted by coaches, per evaluation and draft process.
  • Players cannot turn 16 prior to August 1 of the new playing season year.
  • 2 ¾” Bats allowed 1.15 BPF/USSSA or BBCOR

 

SOFTBALL LEAGUE (NEW FOR 2023) AGES 7 and 8 (8U)

  • Schedule- Typically Teams play and/or practice 2-3 times per week.  Sundays are only used in extreme situations.  The season runs April-early June. The last weekend that will be used for TVBL games is June 3-5.  Our goal is to conclude the season (including any possible playoff games) by June 15, however, if playoff games occur, they may occur during the week in mid to late June depending on the weather. (Playoff determination will be made based on the number of teams).
  • Coach pitch. Coaches will pitch up to 10 pitches to each batter. An out will be assessed if the batter does not put the ball in play in those 10 pitches. Coaches will pitch according to a set of parameters shared prior to the season.
  • Players will strike out according to the rules of softball (that is, 3 strikes is an out).
  • Players are placed on teams by random draw, with even age distributions. Team requests are NOT available.
  • Age in this league is based on the player's age as of January 1st, 2023. In order to be in this league, the player must be 7 or 8. Players who are 6 and have played at least one year in the instructional league are eligible as well. Our board of directors reserves the right to move the player back into the Instructional league if we feel it is in the player's best interest. Players who are 9 on this date are not eligible for this league.
  • Bats are no more than 33 inches in length, and not more than two and one-quarter (2¼) inches in diameter. Bats shall be printed with a BPF (bat performance factor) of 1.20
